Terry Burman
Former CEO of Signet Jewelers
Terry Burman is the former CEO of Signet Jewelers, the world’s largest specialty retail jeweler with 1,900 stores and annual revenue of $3.5 billion. The company operates 1,350 stores in the U.S. where it trades as “Kay Jewelers,” “Jared the Galleria of Jewelry,” and under a number of regional names. Signet also operates 550 stores in the UK. Mr. Burman was with Signet from 1995 until 2010 serving as Group CEO (2000-2010), Chairman of Sterling Jewelers (1995-2010) and CEO, Sterling Jewelers (1995-2005). Prior to Signet, Mr. Burman held positions with Barry’s Jewelers, Inc. based in Monrovia, California eventually becoming President & CEO, and with Roberts Department Stores in Los Angeles.
Mr. Burman received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Mr. Burman serves on the boards of Signet Jewelers and Yankee Candle Company and is a current member of the World Presidents’ Organization. He previously served on the boards of Caesars World, Inc, Barry’s Jewelers, and Unimax and is a past member of the Young President’s Organization (1986 – 1996). He also serves on the nonprofit boards of ACCESS (Akron, Ohio Homeless Shelter), Jewelers of America, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital Board of Governors and ALSAC. Mr. Burman has received a number of awards and recognitions including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2005.
