Michael Barrett

Michael Barrett is the former Head of International Strategy, Innovation and Legal Entity Governance for Wells Fargo. He was also the President of Danube LLC Holdings, the parent company of Wells Fargo Bank Ireland. Prior to leading the global growth strategy, Mr. Barrett was the Global Head of Legal Entity Governance and a member of the Wells Fargo International Executive Committee where he led strategy and entity optimization engagement with the Banking Regulators globally. He previously served as the Chief Marketing Officer and Business Development Leader for Wells Fargo Bank Equipment Finance, a division of Wholesale Commercial Banking. Mr. Barrett has advised and provided financial services to large global corporations and middle market companies in the technology, healthcare, manufacturing & industrial, transportation and financial services industries.

Prior to Wells Fargo, Mr. Barrett had an over 25 year career with GE and GE Capital where he was the CEO of GE Capital Money China after serving as the COO of GE Capital Greater China. As CEO of GE Capital Money China, Mr. Barrett successfully navigated the complexities of launching financial service businesses and a Technology Consulting company in China as it was an emerging player in the global economy. Mr. Barrett created and launched a greenfield financial services business and catalyzed further growth and expansion. Prior to these positions, he led business development for GE Capital Consumer Finance Australia, and M&A, Marketing & Data & Analytics for GE Capital’s Global Consumer Finance businesses in Western Europe.

Mr. Barrett is a trusted advisor to public and private sector leaders. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Executive Committee. He also serves as President of the Penn Alumni, where he leads over 300,000 Penn alumni globally and chairs the nominating committee for alumni trustees. Mr. Barrett also sits on the Technical Advisory Board of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering & Applied Science. Mr. Barrett is also a member of the Board of Directors for the I Have a Dream Foundation and is a former member of the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in China.

Mr. Barrett received a B.A.S from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering & Applied Science. He earned an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Certificate in Corporate Governance at the Wharton School of Business.
