George Thanopoulos
Former CEO of Metaldyne Performance Group, Inc.
George Thanopoulos currently serves as a board member of American Axle & Manufacturing (“AAM”). Previously, Mr. Thanopoulos was the Chief Executive Officer of Metaldyne Performance Group, Inc. (“MPG”) from August 2014 to April 2017, when American Securities and management sold the company to AAM. He was also a member of the MPG board of directors.
Mr. Thanopoulos is the founder of HHI and served as its Chief Executive Officer. Prior to founding HHI, he was a group president of Oldco M Corporation (the former Metaldyne Corporation) and, prior to that, held multiple positions at MascoTech, Inc., the predecessor company to Oldco M Corporation, over a 15-year period, including engineering, plant management, and executive management.
Mr. Thanopoulos served as a member of the board of directors of Global Brass and Copper Holdings, Inc., a converter, fabricator, distributor, and processor of specialized copper and brass products in North America, from 2011 to 2014. He also served as a director of JL French Automotive Castings, Inc., a supplier of die cast aluminum components and assemblies, from 2006 to 2012 and as a director of Chassis Brakes International, a supplier of automotive foundation brakes and brake components, from 2012 to 2013. Mr. Thanopoulos holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (magna cum laude) from the University of Michigan.
