Tanya Fratto
Former President & CEO, GE Superabrasives / Diamond Innovations
Ms. Fratto began her career in General Electric’s Manufacturing Management Program. This two year program allowed her to explore various assignments in operations with GE’s Aerospace Businesses in Daytona, FL and Pittsfield, MA. Ms. Fratto remained with GE after completing the program and progressed through a number of senior leadership positions in GE before becoming a GE Officer in 2000.
Her more than 25 year career with GE included roles in GE Plastics, Corporate Sourcing, GE Appliances, GE Consumer Service, and GE’s Superabrasives businesses. Ms. Fratto’s responsibilities allowed her to build a skill set in operations, supply chain management, marketing, product management, Six Sigma, profit and loss, and portfolio management.
Ms. Fratto became President and CEO of GE’s Superabrasives business in 2000. During her more than 11 years running this industrial diamond business, she led the business through several ownership changes, including a private equity buyout (at which point the company changed its name to Diamond Innovations) and its sale to Sandvik AB in March 2007. After a successful integration into Sandvik, she left in May 2011.
Currently, Ms. Fratto sits on the Board of Boart Longyear, mining products and services company, and Smiths Global Plc, a global technology company. She is an active member on the compensation and nomination committees and the health and safety committees for both companies, and sits on the audit committee for Smiths Global.
She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Alabama.
