Frank Plastina

Frank Plastina is an accomplished executive and leader. Mr. Plastina’s experience spans over 26 years and he has had leadership positions in several publicly traded technology companies with operations in every region of the world. He has been the CEO of 2 NASDAQ companies and is currently the Founder and President of Arc&Company. Arc&Company provides advisory services to “C” level executives in the areas of strategic planning, business model restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and organizational design. Concurrently, Mr. Plastina is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence with the Blackstone Entrepreneur Network group in Research Triangle Park, NC.
Most recently, he was the President and CEO of Tekelec, a telecommunications software company. At Tekelec, Mr. Plastina successfully led the company’s efforts to grow outside of its traditional US based business. Under his leadership, the company secured business in all four of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) countries as well as over 40 additional countries. These efforts led to Tekelec being named one of the Top 200 Small Businesses by Forbes in both 2008 and 2009. Tekelec was also named Public Company of the Year by NCTA in 2009. Mr. Plastina has complimented this operating experience with roles at Warburg Pincus, a leading New York based private equity firm, and the Toronto office of PWC. In 2006, Mr. Plastina was named one of the 50 Most Powerful People in NC Business by Business Leader magazine. He has also been featured in articles in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The Times of India, France’s Le Figaro, Canada’s National Post and the Globe and Mail and Raleigh’s TBJ and News & Observer.
Mr. Plastina has extensive governance experience and is serving or has served on 3 public - company Boards, 5 private company Boards and 7 Boards in the not for profit sector. Mr. Plastina currently serves on the Boards of Cree (Nasdaq:CREE); Presidio, a leading systems integrator with $2.4 Billion in annual revenue, the executive advisory councils of American Securities and Bull City Ventures and the Board of the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. Past public company and private company Board experience includes Tekelec, Proxim, Petroliance, BTI and Pinpoint/Motricity. Past Board service in the not for profit sector has included the Duke Heart Center, Duke Fuqua School of Business, NC Symphony, NCTA, MCNC and the Wake County Boys and Girls Club Boards.
